Fiber Arts Camp July 14-18: 9:15 am-12:15 pm, Ages 10-14

Join me at my home studio in Kenmore, NY for a week full of Fiber Art crafting.

We are back for year two of my favorite camp on Earth! This camp is my dream camp. We'll be working on the projects that I love to make and always feel these projects would be so much more fun doing them with others!

We have plenty of new projects, and we have camp staples that everyone loves. If your child is returning for another year, they will be building upon their skills and working with new materials. As with any fiber arts project, each time you make something, it is different depending on the colors, materials, patterns, and added elements. So even if there are some repeated projects, there will not be repeated art!

We'll be creating beautiful wall hangings by Weaving on a Frame Loom with all different textures of yarn, wool and other materials.

We'll be doing a version of Needlepoint called Bargello. 

We'll have an introduction to Hand Embroidery, and learn several different stitches to create a piece of art.

We will have an introduction into Hand Sewing with a sweet little project. A skill that so many people wish they knew!

We'll be designing, graphing out and Cross Stitching little versions of ourselves.

A summertime staple of the camp is Ice Dyeing. These results are mesmerizing each and every time.

We will also have a few more projects that are not listed in this description.

Please note: This is my second year holding a Fiber Arts Camp. Last year was a roaring success. As I introduce new skills to the class, I will be learning what works and what might be modified for next time. My goal is for your child to take home truly beautiful works of art that they have proudly created. If some of the activities take longer than expected, we will make a game day decision on what to forgo. I value the quality of the activities over the quantity. 

Due to the nature of these projects, this Fiber Arts Camp is best suited to children ages 10-14. It is a comprehensive week deep diving into new skills and creating a finished piece of art in each content area. Being able to challenge themselves, stay focused, and have those fine motor skills will really work to their advantage. You know your child best. I want to stress the importance of your child's patience and concentration required for your child to be most successful at this camp.

Please expect an email closer to the camp dates providing detailed instructions about location, arrival & dismissal procedures as well as items that campers should bring each day, etc. Most supplies will be included with the exception of an item to ice dye. There will also be a camp questionnaire that will be targeted to your child that will guide me in selecting materials.
